Wayne Maher - Rowing NZ
I have had the pleasure of working with Andrew and utlising his expertise on a number of occasions. Most notably in the preparation of Nathan Cohen in the Junior Single Scull for the 2004 Junior World Rowing Championships, the Rowing New Zealand South Island Rowing Academy, and in the program construction for Rangi Ruru Girl’s School Rowing Program Andrew's strength and conditioning program and instruction was instrumental in Nathan's development and ensured a successful campaign culminating in the Silver medal won. (At that point in time New Zealand's best result at Junior Level). The South Island Academy catered to 16 men and women with wide and varied strength and conditioning needs. Andrew’s pragmatic approach ensured significant development by all involved, especially in a training environment with limited time resource. The Rangi Ruru Girl’s School program has been amongst the most successful in New Zealand over the last three years culminating with the school winning the Star Trophy (most successful school) at the 2006 National Secondary Schools Regatta. Andrew has been responsible for much of the off water strength and circuit based training again in an environment with limited resources.

In my dealings with Andrew I have always found him to be professional and most importantly adaptable and appreciative of the individualised needs of athletes. He has an outstanding depth and breadth of knowledge, including sound technical instruction, and is capable of applying this practically at a level that befits an athlete’s particular stage of development. He is not limited by the "text-book" and has a solutions based approach to programming. I would recommend him unreservedly.
